Message	and i always use a gasket. i coat both sides with a light coat of copper coat and i have never had an issue with a leak. if you are going to use silicone, i recommend hondabond ht. it is kinda thick but very sticky and you don't have to use as much to get a good seal. i have heard good things about permatex the right stuff, but i have never used it.
